At the island we can have a nice drink with the neighbors. Enormously cozy!

During the design process, they opted for one meter of headroom between the kitchen island and the back wall of the kitchen. However, during installation, Dennis and Jennifer thought it would be nicer for the island to be flush with the center of the wall between the large windows. For I-KOOK Oud-Beijerland's regular fitter, Johan, that was no problem. "We are so happy with the kitchen. We had a nice get-together with the neighbors around the big island. Hugely cozy!" The outlet on the side of the countertop is also a handy addition. "Wonderful to be able to vacuum the whole living room in one go."

Dennis and Jennifer chose handleless graphite-black fronts with anti-fingerprint coating. The big question, of course, is whether the fingerprints actually stay away... "Fingerprints are easy to wipe off, but if the kids have been by with greasy pastry fingers, we still have to polish well." Jereau tips not to use a fiber cloth for cleaning. "The fibers of such a cloth trap dirt particles that damage the top layer of your fronts. Rather, grab a tea towel."

With two flex zones and a large round zone on the cooktop, you can easily cook multiple dishes at once.

The previous kitchen had a gas cooktop, but it was replaced in the new kitchen by a 90cm induction cooktop from Pelgrim. "That took some adjusting at first, but it is a very fine induction cooktop," says Dennis. "Our children are not the easiest eaters and with two flex zones and a large round zone on the plate you can easily prepare several dishes at once. The combination with the Quooker also works very nicely. Your pan of water boils in no time." Jereau's tip is to purchase the aluminum grill plate. "Ideal if you have a flex zone on your cooktop, because you heat the grill plate through multiple zones."

"We are very happy with our built-in waste system. There is a sliding system on the door with multiple bins so you can separate waste right away. It also has a bin specifically for chemical waste. We use the shelf above the garbage cans to put down new bags and other cleaning supplies. That way we have everything at hand!"

The lighting combined with the color back wall gives a nice atmosphere.

When it gets dark outside, the mood lighting goes on in the island kitchen. Spotlights allow you to highlight specific areas of the kitchen and literally put something in the spotlight. Especially in an open kitchen, which flows into the living room, it is important to extend the light color from that room into the kitchen. "The color scheme creates a nice atmosphere. We love to turn on the spotlights when we close the curtains at night."

Thank you for your hospitality, Dennis and Jennifer! We hope you will enjoy your new kitchen. May you make many more delicious dishes for the boys and spend cozy moments with family, friends and neighbors around the kitchen island!

"I listen to your wishes as much as possible and try to think along with them about new ideas. By thinking out of the box, I create original designs. The final result gives me the most satisfaction."
