Looking inside Ursula and Frans's home

Ursula and French

"With a few modifications, we created a new dream kitchen from an existing kitchen."

For about a year Ursula and Frans have been living in their new row house in the cozy village of Oudewater. They decorated the house completely to their own taste and so did the kitchen. The home's kitchen was from 2018, so it was still fairly new. Frans says, "I thought it was a waste to take out a kitchen that was as good as new. With some minor adjustments, they gave the kitchen a whole new look and feel.

This is what makes our kitchen so special

Frans has a heart for cuisines and really cooks everything himself. From homemade sambal that he has to make in large numbers, because his entire neighborhood is anxiously waiting for a new filled jar. To culinary meals that he prepares based on videos of chefs on the platform Netflix, for example. When friends come over for dinner, Frans doesn't turn his hand to a ten-course menu. During our visit, for example, he had prepared a delicious stuffed tomato soup. Frans knew in advance which elements should not be missing from the new kitchen.

'The cabinets from the old kitchen were still in very good condition and also looked nice with the rest of the interior. It was a shame to replace them. However, we did rearrange the kitchen. The low cabinets were actually on the other side of the kitchen. We also chose a new top, composite with a marble look. The design appealed to us almost immediately. It looks great with the white fronts of the kitchen. The veins in the design create a playful effect," says Frans. The couple deliberately chose to have the worktop continue on the side of the kitchen. The extra-high splash edges give a finished look and, of course, also protect the walls from stains.

"You never have enough storage space in a kitchen."

The black cabinetry in the kitchen is newly added. 'Black we thought was a nice counterpoint to the white fronts. You quickly run out of storage space in a kitchen. That's why we opted for a large refrigerator and storage cabinets," says Frans. The large refrigerator was a real must for Frans. 'Cooking is my biggest hobby. I can spend whole days in the kitchen. So the steam oven and combi oven are an invention for someone like me. It always takes some figuring out and making your own how an oven works, but once you know it you don't want to live without it anymore. Vegetables from the steam oven really make a big difference," he says enthusiastically.

In the new kitchen, of course, a Quooker faucet could not be missing. 'You have made a cup of tea in no time and while cooking everything goes much faster. After just a few seconds, the water is already boiling on the stove. Ideal,' says Ursula. The other black elements such as the hood, cooktop and accessories provide a nice coherence in the design.

"The TV cabinet and sideboard have the same white fronts as the kitchen."

The only thing the couple would do differently another time is the extraction. The couple would have preferred a hood-in-hob. That's an extractor integrated into the cooktop. By keeping the old kitchen cabinets, there was no room for its exhaust. The angled extractor is nice because it saves space compared to other extractor hoods. For their feel, the extraction is not as strong.

To make the home a beautiful whole, the couple wanted the sleek look of the kitchen to carry through to the rest of the interior. So they had the TV cabinet and sideboard delivered in the same white fronts. Ursula and Frans love a modern interior, these cabinets totally fit the bill! "And there's never enough storage space!", Ursula adds.

We wish Frans and Ursula lots of cooking fun in the renovated kitchen. And would love to come back and taste the delicious soup again! 🤩

"I listen carefully to the client's wishes in order to create the right arrangement. For me it's all about the overall picture, everything has to be right down to the details. Here it is important to help customers make the right choices. The happy faces, that's what we do it for!"
